The Qatari embassy in Azerbaijan held a reception to celebrate Qatar's National Day.
According to Report, the event began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Qatar, followed by a speech from Mohammed Hamad Saad Al Fuhaid AlHajri, Qatar's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan.
The ambassador highlighted Qatar's commitment to the national vision of Qatar 2030, which aims for prosperity and sustainable development. He mentioned that Qatar is developing relations with friendly and brotherly countries, including Azerbaijan:
"Mutual visits of officials and businessmen at various levels, including political, economic, and cultural spheres, between Qatar and Azerbaijan serve to further strengthen the bonds of cooperation."
The ambassador also congratulated Azerbaijan on successfully hosting the COP29 conference:
"Azerbaijan hosted COP29 at a high level, managing the conference in a way that served the interests of the whole world. As a result, brilliant success was achieved. I congratulate Azerbaijan on this occasion."
Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, an honorary guest at the event, spoke about Qatar's progress since its establishment:
“Today, Qatar continues its dynamic and confident development and hosts international events in various fields. All this serves to increase Qatar’s global and regional prestige. The country’s achievements and successes are a source of joy and pride for all of us.”
The minister also discussed Azerbaijani-Qatar relations, noting that September 14 marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries:
“Over the past 30 years, Azerbaijani-Qatar relations have developed on the basis of friendship and mutual respect, serving the interests of both nations. During this period, mutual visits between the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Qatar have fostered the growth and enrichment of bilateral relations. Effective cooperation mechanisms have been established in the political, economic, investment, business, and parliamentary spheres, and a solid legal and contractual foundation has been created. Mutual visits of state and government, as well as parliamentary delegations, have intensified.
Babayev also mentioned factors that contribute to strengthening ties between the two countries:
“Since 2021, citizens of Azerbaijan and Qatar have benefited from a visa-free regime. Twelve direct flights operate between the two capitals every week. Additionally, cultural events are organized in both countries, further strengthening the bonds between our peoples.”
The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan, members of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), and state and cultural figures.
