President: Reforms in implementing UNSC resolutions to increase international trust in this organization
Ilham Aliyev

It is not a secret now that the United Nations needs reforms, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said during the videoconference discussions of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center "South Caucasus: Prospects for Regional Development and Cooperation."

According to Report, the head of state said there should be a very clear vision with respect to the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

"It should not be selective, it should not be based on double standards. In our case there were four resolutions adopted in 1993 by the Security Council. And three co-chairs of the Minsk Group are three permanent members of the Security Council. And they had to do everything in order to implement the resolutions which they adopted," Ilham Aliyev said.

He reminded that those resolutions demanded the full and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied territories, but it did not work.

According to the President, reforms in UN, primarily, in mechanisms of the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions will increase the international trust in this organization.
