Flagpoles were erected in memory of Azerbaijanis who died during the Second World War in the fights for the Peregulisky airport located in the Ukrainka settlement of the Mykolaiv province of Ukraine.

Report's Eastern European bureau said that the flags of Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and European Union would be waved at the memorial complex erected with the organizational support of the Mykolaiv People's Movement Public Union, the United Ukraine Azerbaijanis Congress, and the Azerbaijani businessman, Rasim Tagiyev, who lives in Germany.

Along with those members of the 416th Taganrog division, who died during the Second World War while liberating Ukraine, from Donbas to Odesa, the memorial complex also honors the memory of those who lost their lives in the fights against the separatists in the country's east.

The opening ceremony was attended by the head of the structure Nikolay Gorbatenko, local parliament member Olexiy Osipenko, chair of the local council Irina Vishnevskaya, local activists Marina Avdeeva, Andrey Pirulievsky, veterans Konstantin Oborin, Stanislav Chaychenko, Anastasiya Pogosova, Mikhail Drotenko, activist of the United Ukrainian Azerbaijanis Congress Fazil Asgarov, staff of the local school and others.

The speakers at the event said they are proud of Azerbaijanis who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Ukraine.
