Mahmud Mammadguliyev: There is coldness between Azerbaijan and EU

Baku. 3 December. REPORT.AZ/ 'There is coldness between Azerbaijan and European Union and it is not only about the European Parliament. But, of course, the European Parliament also has a role in formation of the coldness.'

Report informs, Mahmud Mammadguliyev, Deputy Foreign Minister told reporters, commenting on current state of relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan after adoption of resolution in the European Parliament against Azerbaijan.

According to him, adoption of draft resolution does not mean its unanimous support in the European Parliament: 'We cannot say that everyone in the parliament voted for that draft. The biggest party, European People`s Party was against. But I consider that cooperation with the European Parliament is necessary, because it is a part of the European Union and important decisions are adopted there.'

Deputy Minister explained main reason for cooling of relations between the EU and Azerbaijan as Union's not showing single stand in approach towards Nagorno-Karabakh conflict till now: 'It is true, they stated in Riga Summit that they recognize territorial integrity of all Eastern Partnership countries, including Azerbaijan. But they did not show resolution of conflict in Riga communiqué in the way meeting our demands. They show resolution for conflict in Moldova, Georgia and now in Ukraine under certain principles, but as for Azerbaijan they mention OSCE Minsk Group and state that they will support the Group's decisions. But the matter is that, what is your stand?'

Official Baku will demand  to stand proper to Azerbaijan position  in Nagorno Karabakh conflict, M.Mammadquliyev said.
