The Azerbaijani government is taking important steps to combat climate change, UNDP Deputy Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Charu Bist said, as quoted by Report.
She stressed that efforts to solve the problem of climate change are their priority and stressed the commitment to the Paris Agreement of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Bista added that the Azerbaijani government also expressed a clear commitment to this agreement, so UNDP is cooperating with Azerbaijan in this matter.
According to the Deputy Resident Coordinator, UNDP is working with Azerbaijan on a number of projects, including the national adaptation plan for the new climate agenda, the creation of a marine ecosystem park, etc.
Work is also underway with Azerbaijan on preparations for the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) of the UNFCCC, which will be held in Egypt this year.
