Unemployment hits 7-year high in Turkey

Baku. 15 March. REPORT.AZ/ Unemployment indicator in Turkey by December 2016 was at 3.872 mln, featuring 668,000 or 20.84% increase in comparison with the same period of 2015. 

Report informs referring to Bloomberg, Turkish Statistic Department (TÜİK) has announced.

According to report, 12.7% overall unemployment indicator announced by TÜİK features 1.9% rise in annual comparison and exceeds 12.4% forecast. Unemployment indicator, excluding agriculture sector, increased by 2.2% to hit 14.9%. As a result, the unemployment rate hit 7-year high since March 2010.

Number of unemployed young people (within 15-24 age group) jumped by 4.8% to 24%.
