Baku. 2 October. REPORT.AZ/ The currency trading functionaries in financial markets increased their net short positions in the US-dollar last week and reached maximum level for last 5 years.

Report informs citing the Reuters, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) said.

On September 23-29 week in the International Monetary Market, speculators have increased their short positions in US-dollar up to $ 17.36 bln against the yen, euro, pound sterling, Swiss franc, Canadian and Australian dollar. Notably, a week ago the net short position was $ 13,19 bln.

Short Position in New Zealand Dollar, Mexican Peso, Brazilian Real and Russian Ruble increased from $ 16.65 bln to $ 21,13 bln.

Notably, after disclosures by Fed regarding possibility of an increase in discount rate in December U.S. dollar began to grow stronger. The appreciation of US dollar is also supported by the news of tax reforms in the United States.
