World's first 4th-generation nuclear power plant goes into commercial operation in China

The world's first fourth-generation nuclear power plant, China's Shidaowan high temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) nuclear power plant, officially went into commercial operation on Wednesday in Rongcheng, Shandong province, according to the National Energy Administration and China Huaneng Group., Report informs via ECNS.
As much as 93.4 percent of the material used in the plant is domestically sourced, said China Huaneng Group, leading operator of the project.
The operation illustrates China's global leadership in the field of high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear power technology, it said.
