TAP to transport 10 bcm of gas next year, IEA says

The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) has transported 5.5 bcm of Azerbaijani gas to Europe since early 2021, Report informs, citing the International Energy Agency.

According to the Agency, the natural gas transportation via this pipeline is expected to reach 8 bcm this year, 10 bcm next year.

Moreover, the export of Azerbaijan’s natural gas (mainly via TAP and TANAP) increased by 15%.

TAP transports natural gas from the giant Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea to Europe. The 878 km long pipeline connects with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Turkish-Greek border in Kipoi, crosses Greece and Albania and the Adriatic Sea before coming ashore in Southern Italy.

On the first day of the project, which started to transport Azerbaijani gas to Europe on December 31, 2020, the pipeline exported 10.9 million cubic meters to Europe.
