Minister: We think about gradual geographic extension of Southern Gas Corridor

"We also think about a gradual geographic extension of our Gas Corridor," Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov said at the Eastern Partnership Foreign Ministers´ Meeting.

"In the field of energy, we continue our strategic partnership through the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC). A major part of works on this project have been already finalized. Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is in the very final stage of construction. We also think about a gradual geographic extension of our Gas Corridor. However, a more predictable environment can attract more natural gas from Azerbaijan to the EU. That’s why it is very important to ensure a regulatory predictability by the EU for the next stages of the development of the Corridor. I would like to use this opportunity to call on my colleagues from some European capitals to do their utmost possible to ensure that the Gas Corridor becomes a joint success of Azerbaijan and the EU," the minister said.
