Iran offers Azerbaijan installation of turbines at power plants under construction

Connecting the Iranian power grid to the Russian one through Azerbaijan is important for strengthening trilateral ties, Report informs, citing foreign media that Iranian Energy Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian said this at an online meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Parviz Shahbazov.

"The implementation of this plan will allow to manage the demand for electricity during periods of peak consumption of the three countries, and compensate for the energy deficit. We are ready to hold a trilateral meeting between the ministers of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia. Iran welcomes the development and exchange of electricity of the three countries," he said.

A. Mehrabian proposed the installation of turbines at power plants built jointly by Iran and Azerbaijan: "Thus, electricity will be produced in a significant volume, which will bring income to both countries. Iran is among the countries that own the technology of building modern power plants and turbines with an efficiency of more than 60%; these turbines are currently being exported to other countries, including Russia."
