Hungarian Secretary of State: Baku can be called capital of future energy security

Baku can be called the capital of future energy security, Peter Staray, the Secretary of State for Security Policy at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said at the Baku Energy Forum, which started today, Report informs.

According to him, it is important to formulate an energy strategy for the next years, taking into account all the challenges: “We certainly cannot do it alone. We should come together, develop international projects, and cooperate more. Therefore, it is very important for us to be in Baku today.”

Staray said that during the transition to green energy, the gas should be used as a transition fuel: “At the same time, Hungary is determined to increase the production of nuclear energy.”

He also added that Hungary supports the creation of a green energy corridor connecting Azerbaijan's Caspian Sea wind power plants to Europe through the Black Sea submarine cable, as well as the creation of relevant infrastructure in Romania and Hungary: “This project promises a great future for Hungary. This project is an important one for Hungary.”
