Azerbaijan's revenues from polypropylene exports up 30%

From January through June 2021, Azerbaijan, according to customs declarations, exported 40,000 tons of primary polypropylene, Report informs citing the State Customs Committee.

Azerbaijan earned $51.95 million from polypropylene exports.

According to the committee, compared to the first half of 2021, the weight of polypropylene exports decreased by 20.85%, but the monetary value increased by 30.3%.

In the first half of 2021, the share of polypropylene in Azerbaijan’s non-oil exports amounted to 4.45%. However, its stake in the country’s total exports equated to only 0.6%.

The SOCAR Polymer project includes polypropylene plants with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and high-density polyethylene plants with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons. The polypropylene plant was commissioned on July 18, 2018, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Italian President Sergio Mattarella. Export of polypropylene started on October 5.
