Azerbaijan reveals way to achieve goal of reducing carbon emissions by 40%

Establishing the Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions as a net zero emission green energy zone is an important part of the way towards our goal of reducing carbon emissions by 40% by 2050, Azerbaijan's energy minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the conference on "Post-conflict model under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev".

According to him, today, all our efforts are mobilized to wide application of this innovative practice, to turn our freed territories into a model region in energy efficiency.

The minister said that measures related to the creation of a green energy zone are not limited to the development of renewable energy but promote activities in all components of the energy transition:

"That is, multifaceted issues such as the use of the most effective and smart systems in energy transmission and distribution, green technologies in heating, cooling and hot water supply, as well as street and road lighting, use of electric vehicles, installation of electric charging stations, solar panels on the roofs of buildings, and energy efficiency, are covered."

Shahbazov reminded that the Smart Village project in Zangilan is being implemented per the concept of green energy using renewable energy sources and taking into account energy efficiency requirements.
