Due to the current situation in Ukraine, over the past two days, 21 Azerbaijani citizens have crossed into Hungary through a checkpoint on the border between Ukraine and Hungary, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora told Report.

Head of the Azerbaijani House in Budapest Ibrahim Safarli said that Azerbaijani compatriots were transferred from the checkpoint to Budapest. They were placed in the House of Azerbaijan in Budapest, the houses of Azerbaijanis living in the city, as well as in hotels. Representatives of the Diaspora organization regularly inquire about their needs.

Fifteen-day duty-free visas were issued for Azerbaijani citizens at the checkpoint, and it is planned to deliver them to Azerbaijan in the near future.

The State Committee appeals to the Azerbaijanis who managed to move from Ukraine to Poland and Hungary and informs that they can stay in the Houses of Azerbaijan functioning in these countries until they are evacuated to their homeland.

Azerbaijan’s House can be reached by calling +48 732 858 585 in Poland, and +994 50 662 19 89 in Hungary. Phone lines are active around the clock.

Applicants are planned to be brought to Azerbaijan through the border countries with Ukraine.

On behalf of the Azerbaijani government, the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Organizations, in coordination with the relevant government agencies, continues to evacuate Azerbaijanis living in Ukraine to Baku.
