Tourist flow from Azerbaijan up by 20%

A total of 633,600 people traveled abroad from Azerbaijan in January-May 2023, which is 19.5% higher than the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

According to the Committee, the number of Azerbaijani citizens who traveled to Russia increased by 1.9 times, to Georgia by 36.5%, and the number of those who went to Iran decreased by 29.41% and to Türkiye 0.4%. 39% of the Azerbaijanis who traveled abroad visited Türkiye, 24.3% visited Russia, 9.4% traveled to Georgia, 7.9% to Iran, and 19.4% opted for other countries. Men accounted for 69.5%, and women for 30.5% of all those who traveled abroad.

20% of Azerbaijani citizens who visited foreign countries in January-May 2023 used railway and car, 67.2% chose to travel by air, and 2.8% opted for sea transport.
