Georgia sees 97% decline in visitors from Azerbaijan

The number of travelers from Azerbaijan to Georgia decreased by 96.9% in May, Report informs, citing National Bank of Georgia.

In the reporting period, the number of foreign visitors touring to Georgia also dropped by 94.1%. The trips from Russia and Armenia slid 97.8% and 92.1%, respectively.

According to the Georgian National Tourism Administration, 3,276 people visited Georgia in May. This figure fell 46.2% to 268,016 people in January-May.

The decline is caused by the closure of the land and air borders of Georgia and other countries due to the coronavirus pandemic.
