Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency: Dev't of agrarian tourism - one of main goals

The development of agrarian tourism as an alternative type of tourism is one of the main goals of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan (STA), head of the STA's Regional Tourism Development Sector Elgun Javadov said at the Agro-Tourism Investment Forum organized within the Agri Vision project implemented by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) and the "Constitution" Research Fund.

According to Elgun Javadov, Azerbaijan has great potential in this area.

"The fact that agricultural establishments are also turning to tourism as an additional activity and earning extra income from tourism is, of course, a proven activity in many EU countries. There are no obstacles for us to make the most of our potential in this area," he added.

Javadov said that the work in this area needs a particular structure and strategic approach: "As the State Tourism Agency, we initially prefer areas with more resources. The Agri Vision project is one of the most progressive projects in terms of public-private partnership. Tourism is an area where it is impossible to work with only one party in any case; it is an area that requires cooperation. Therefore, the participants of other government agencies also reported on the work done in connection with tourism. We also know that it is possible to jointly develop this area."
