Ahmad Kamrizamil: Program to attract Azerbaijani tourists to Malaysia being prepared

A program is currently being developed to involve Azerbaijani tour operators, airlines and media representatives in promoting tourism packages to Malaysia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Azerbaijan Ahmad Kamrizamil Mohd Riza said during the Malaysia-Azerbaijan Trade, Business and Tourism Seminar, titled "Strengthening Relations between Malaysia and Azerbaijan through Economic and Tourism Cooperation", held in Baku, Report informs.

He noted that this project is already in the preparation stage and will be implemented with the support of the Istanbul office of Tourism Malaysia as part of a targeted campaign.

"The program will be implemented on the principle of the so-called smart cost-sharing partnership with Tourism Malaysia. This will allow us to promote tour packages through both digital platforms and traditional advertising channels. As part of this initiative, we plan to invite famous Azerbaijani influencers and content creators to Malaysia so that they can personally get acquainted with the country's tourism potential and tell their audience about it. Our goal is to attract even more tourists from Azerbaijan," the ambassador emphasized.

He noted that Malaysia is proud to see the growing interest of Azerbaijanis in the country: "In 2024, as many as 2,382 tourists from Azerbaijan visited Malaysia - this is an impressive increase: 80% more than in 2019 and 61.5% more than in 2023."

According to Kamrizamil, the first official launch of the Year of Visiting Malaysia 2026 campaign will take place in Baku today.

"Our government has officially declared 2026 as the Visit Malaysia Year. We will promote the country in Azerbaijan through the Year of Visiting Malaysia 2026 campaign through large-scale promotional campaigns, specialized tourism seminars, and direct B2B sessions between companies," the ambassador added.
