According to Report, speaking to journalists as part of his Baku visit, O'Brien emphasized that establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan after more than three decades of conflict would be a prolonged process. However, he expressed optimism, stating that then it will evolve into deeper relationships between societies."
Regarding the arms sale, O'Brien revealed that Washington learned about the sale of weapons to Armenia from the newspapers, so these are not coordinated efforts.
The US official noted that Armenia is striving to become a stable state, adding that this country seeks to become a partner that is not dependent on Russia because Russian aid "often comes with certain conditions and influences that negatively affect the development of the region."
