Turkish military expert: "Iran did't respond to our cooperation offer"

"Iran is one of the active countries in the region. That is, it is a country that requires due attention in the political and military processes taking place in the region. However, despite all this, Iran voices opinions that do not deserve the support of Turkey and Azerbaijan. I think that these statements by Iran are both political and military. It should be noted that in the Patriotic War, 30-year of struggle to achieve justice for Azerbaijan, Iran, despite being an Islamic state and a neighboring country with more than half of its population consisting of Azerbaijani Turks, demonstrated an anti-Azerbaijani stance," Turkish military-political expert Coskun Basbug said in an interview with Report.

According to him, if the Iranian Government's support for Armenia and the so-called regime during the Second Karabakh War had not been met with strong protests in the South Azerbaijan region, such assistance and logistics would not have been interrupted: "It is necessary to think about why a Muslim country, half of which is Turks, has such dirty relations. Even if there are protests against these relations and actions, it is well known what methods of pressure Iran uses to silence its citizens," Basbug said.

Coskun Basbug also commented on Iran's concern over "three brothers" exercises: "Iran's concern over the 'three brothers' military exercises conducted jointly by Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Pakistan was also evident. Obviously, this was surprising. In other words, such senseless jealousy of the most powerful Islamic states in the region is incomprehensible. We offered Iran cooperation in the 3 + 3 format. However, Iran did not respond to these proposals and gestures."

The expert stressed that the Iranian Government is jealous of Azerbaijan's military and diplomatic achievements and sees it as a source of danger: "It is not a problem of the last days, but a concern of the population of South Azerbaijan for hundreds of years. They understand very well that any action against Azerbaijan and its national interests is a step that will cause great turbulence."
