Peskov: Kremlin monitoring NATO’s activity in South Caucasus

The Kremlin is closely monitoring NATO’s increased activity in the South Caucasus, Russian Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on the trips of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg to the countries of the South Caucasus, Report informs referring to Interfax.

“Of course, we are watching closely, but we intend to focus on our bilateral relations and cooperation instruments that our country has with the countries of the region,” Peskov noted.

He added that NATO’s attempts to expand its influence and presence are not capable of adding stability and predictability to the situation in the region.

“We are well aware of NATO’s general desire to consolidate its presence in the Caucasus, and, as they say, visible to the naked eye,” he emphasized.

Jens Stoltenberg visited Azerbaijan on March 17, Georgia on March 18 and Armenia on March 19.
