Lavrov: Zelensky hopes Biden will be pushed to tougher approach on Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is counting on American politicians to push White House chief Joe Biden towards a more confrontational scenario in Ukraine, although Kyiv understands that the US president will not allow the creation of a no-fly zone, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday in an interview with RT.

According to Lavrov, Ukraine <...> believes that Biden is a very experienced politician who understands that it is absolutely unacceptable to create something like a no-fly zone or supply aircraft to Ukraine, or take any other steps that would bring the risk of an open confrontation between NATO and Russia.

The Russian foreign minister added that Zelensky also understands that there are less responsible politicians in the United States, who are incited by the Ukrainian lobby, guided by Russophobic sentiments. According to Lavrov, there are also such people in Congress. He added that these politicians periodically pass a resolution condemning and threatening Russia and that Zelensky seems to be counting on them to push the US president towards a more confrontational approach.
