Iran: COVID-19 death toll nears 10 thousand

Iran has confirmed 2,531 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

According to Sima Sadat Lari, spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education, 133 more people have died in country from the coronavirus over the past day.

Sadat Lari added that the condition of 2,869 people is critical.

So far, the country has conducted more than 1.5 million tests for the diagnosis of coronavirus. Over 212,500 people had contracted the virus since February 19, when the authorities reported the first COVID-19 case. 9,996 people have already died. Meanwhile, over 172,000 have reportedly recovered from the disease.
