Hulusi Akar clarifies whether Turkey will join sanctions against Russia

Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has clarified whether his country will join the sanctions against Russia, Report informs.

When returning to Ankara from a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, Belgium, the minister said that Turkey only supports the sanctions announced at the UN level.

“There is no such thing that we will not join the sanctions. Turkey is doing its part when it comes to sanctions declared by the UN,” he stressed.

Hulusi Akar believes that the situation should not be exaggerated:

“Stability and peace must come with the immediate establishment of a ceasefire and the start of political and diplomatic talks.”

He noted that the balance of profits and losses in these issues should be well assessed.

“In this sense, we do not have a position that ‘we will not impose any sanctions,’ but we think that foresight and prudence will be useful for Ukraine, Russia and the region,'” Akar said.
