"It is unacceptable for Georgia to talk about a referendum in its occupied territories. This occupation has not only a political but also a legal assessment given by the Strasbourg court," Minister of Foreign Affairs David Zalkaliani said.

According to him, under the conditions of occupation, no referendum will have legal force: "Especially because hundreds of thousands of our citizens have been expelled as a result of ethnic cleansing and have no right to return to their homes. The international community has great support in this matter."

The Foreign Minister noted that there were attempts to provoke Georgia again: "Of course, we will not allow it. The Georgian government is committed to a consistent peace policy, which aims to end the occupation without the use of force. We will not use force to restore our territorial integrity. The international community also supports our position."

Yesterday, the "president" of the so-called "South Ossetia," Anatoly Bibilov, said that legal steps will be taken in the near future to annex the "republic" to Russia. The so-called regime intends to hold a referendum on this issue after April 10.
