"We support the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We do not recognize the Luhansk and Donetsk 'republics'," Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov said at a plenary session of the country's Senate, Report informs.
"First, the situation around Ukraine has caused serious concern in Uzbekistan. Second, Uzbekistan is committed to resolving the situation and the conflict through peaceful negotiations and diplomacy. For this, first of all, hostility and violence must be stopped immediately," he said.
Although the Foreign Minister said that he would continue mutually beneficial cooperation with both countries based on the national interests of Uzbekistan, he also stressed that the country would support Ukraine.
"We will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in such difficult times," the minister added.
Uzbekistan has sent 28 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
