Seven people, including five children, died in a fire in the Sterlitamaksky district of Bashkiria, Russia, the republic's Emergency Situations Ministry said on Friday on its Vkontakte page, Report informs, citing TASS.

"Tonight, it was reported that in the Sterlitamaksky district in the village of Matveyevka on Molodezhnaya Street, there was a fire in a residential two-apartment brick house. At the time of the arrival of firefighters, there was an open burning of one of the apartments of the house across the entire area. At 05:19 (GMT+3), the fire was localized in an area of 56 square meters. Unfortunately, in the course of extinguishing the fire, seven people were found dead, including two adults, a man and a woman, and five children: boys," the Ministry said.

The cause of the fire is being probed into, the experts are now on the scene.
