Armenia to start studying sections of railways towards Azerbaijan

In about ten days, Armenia will kick off studies into the two sections of the railway, to be restored, towards Azerbaijan, and on the basis of this, a project will be developed.

Report informs, citing the Armenian media that the head of the working group of the Armenia-Azerbaijan railway restoration program, Artashes Tumanyan, advisor to the prime minister, said.

According to him, experts from Russian Railways will also take part in the work of the working group.

The adviser to the prime minister explained that in order to start the construction, the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be recorded in a document: this can be both a bilateral and a trilateral agreement.

Earlier, it was reported that the new operator of the railway with Azerbaijan - Yeraskh -Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Horadiz will be the "daughter" of Russian Railways - South Caucasus Railway" (SCR).
