UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the meeting on Afghanistan in Geneva will call on countries to allocate $606 million in aid for the Islamic republic in the next four months, Martin Griffiths, the undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, said at a briefing on September 7 following his visit to Kabul, Report informs referring to TASS.

The secretary-general will urge to allocate $606 million for a four-month period in Geneva on September 13, Griffiths said.

He noted that these funds will be directed at meeting the current humanitarian needs of Afghanistan in the field of food, medicine, medical services, as well as to ensure the safety of personnel.
