Sholtz reveals date of his last telephone conversation with Putin

The last telephone conversation between German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz and Russian President Vladimir Putin took place in December 2022, the Chancellor said in an interview with the Markische Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper, Report informs.

While answering the correspondent’s related question, Scholtz said, “Our last phone conversation was in December 2022 - before that, we talked to each other more often.”.

The chancellor added that a few days before the war, they "talked face-to-face in Moscow" for more than four hours.

Replying to the question about the possibility of peace talks regarding Ukraine, Scholtz noted that "a number of countries, including Ukraine, are currently discussing at the level of security advisers what something that could lead to a peace process might look like."

"But let me say one thing clearly: peace is possible at any time,” he emphasized.
