Romanian FM: Necessary to find way for soonest associative membership of Azerbaijan in EU

Baku. 2 February. REPORT.AZ/ "Romania will make a proposal at the high-level event organized in Brussels, Belgium, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership program."

Report's Georgia bureau informs citing Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Meleșcanu that the proposal will mainly be focused on definite projects and improvement of relations between the Eastern Partnership member-states and EU:

"The EU must be sure that these countries implement major essential reforms. Speaking about the Eastern Partnership initiative, we must imply two categories. The three participants of the initiative - Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova, have an association agreement with EU. They have reached an agreement on abolition of the visa regime for their citizens. We seek to overcome all hindrances for economic cooperation with these three countries. Certainly, it must happen with the observation of the provisions of agreement."

Meleșcanu touched upon the three other member-states of the program - Azerbaijan, Belarus and Armenia: "It is necessary to find the way of supporting these countries in holding reforms. These reforms will help them become associative members and we will probably pass the way for elimination of visa regime."
