French incumbent President Emmanuel Macron is 4% ahead of Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally party, five days before the first round of the presidential election, Report informs citing RIA Novosti.

This follows from the results of a survey by OpinionWay - Kéa Partners, published on April 5.

In the first round of elections, 27% are ready to vote for Macron, and 23% for Le Pen. On March 30, 28% wanted to vote for the current president of France, and 20% of the French wanted to vote for the leader of the National Rally party.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of the far-left France Unbowed (LFI) party, is in third place in the pre-election rating, 15% of the French citizens plan to vote for him in the first round. He is followed by Reconquête! (R!) founder Eric Zemmour and center-right Republicans’ candidate Valerie Pecresse with 9%.

If in the second round of elections the struggle will unfold between Macron and Le Pen, the incumbent French president will win with 53%, poll data show.

The poll, which was conducted April 2-5, was attended by 1,777 people on the electoral rolls in France.

The first round of elections in France will take place on April 10, the second is scheduled for April 24. As many as 12 candidates are running for the presidential post.
