Omicron variant detected in at least 10 U.S. states

The new Omicron variant was identified in more than a dozen people in at least 10 states, early evidence of its presence across the U.S., Report informs, referring to the Wall Street Journal.

Some people in the U.S., who have contracted the Omicron variant of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, had recently traveled to southern Africa. However, at least in Hawaii and Minnesota, Omicron has been detected in patients who have not left the United States.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of infections in the country has been increasing in recent days. On December 2, 138,400 new infections were registered in the United States, while there were 102,000 cases on Monday.
