The Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU member states may consider on April 22 the measures to expand sanctions against Iran and include the issue of Russia’s supply of ballistic missiles for use in Ukraine, according to the European edition of the Politico newspaper, Report informs referring to TASS.
The document obtained by the publication states that the EU began to impose sanctions against Iran for the supply of drones to the Russian Federation after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. Now the European Union wants to include in the sanctions regime the sending of Iranian-made ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation.
On March 21, the heads of state and government of the EU countries promised to introduce new restrictive measures against Iran if the country supplies the Russian Federation with ballistic missiles for use in Ukraine. The EU summit also threatened to increase restrictions against Belarus and North Korea for military assistance to Moscow.
