Kyrgyz and Tajik Presidents discuss situation on border 

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon have held a phone conversation today.

Report informs, citing the official website of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, that a constructive dialogue took place during the talks in the spirit of a friendly neighborhood based on the principles of mutual respect for the territorial integrity of the countries.

The heads of state discussed the measures on de-escalation of the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. They agreed to solve the problem peacefully and hold a meeting in Dushanbe in the second half of May.

On May 1, the sides will hold talks on delimitation and demarcation of the borders.

The situation on the border escalated on April 29. The clash between the Kyrgyz and Tajik militants lasted more than 6 hours.

The Foreign Ministers reached an agreement on ceasefire and withdrawal of the troops. However, the clashes resumed today.
