The European Union admits that it may return to sanctions against Iran to prevent the resumption of Tehran's nuclear program, the head of the EU diplomatic service Kaja Kallas said upon arrival at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU member states, Report informs via TASS.
"The JCPOA includes Iran's obligations, and there is also a mechanism that allows sanctions to be re-imposed if the situation with the nuclear program of this country does not improve," Kallas said.
"The Iranian economy is not working very well, and this is not good for the Iranian people, we are working to ensure that Iran does not resume its nuclear program," she noted.
She added that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran would be a huge threat, so the EU foreign ministers will discuss the possibilities of a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
