France has evacuated around 2,500 people from Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover, Government Spokesman and State Secretary Gabriel Attal said, Report informs, citing TASS.
"We have evacuated nearly 2,500 people though it all happens in very complex conditions," he said, comparing evacuation to running counterwise.
"Security of French nationals remains our top priority," the state secretary continued, adding that the French government thoroughly analyzes any potential risk connected with the movement of people. He said the intelligence service had done brilliant work.
Attal made it clear that France should be ready to wrap up the operation due to the expected August 31 withdrawal of the US contingent that ensures the airport security.
"We asked the United States to extend the term of operation, but weren't heard," the state secretary said.
