China creating vaccine effective against various COVID mutations

Chinese experts are developing a vaccine that will be effective against various mutations of COVID and better protect from all kinds of its strains, said Zhong Nanshan, head of the high-level expert group of the National Health Commission and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Report informs referring to TASS.

“The most commonly used jabs in China are inactivated vaccines by Sinovac and Sinopharm, which, for example, are ineffective against the South African strain,” he said at an online conference of the Guangzhou Institute of Engineering Conversion.

The expert noted that it is still difficult to determine exactly how long after vaccination Chinese jabs can protect a person from coronavirus infection.

“At the current stage, about 50 types of vaccines are being developed in China, and more than 200 globally,” he added.
