Carlos Uriarte: Azerbaijan, Spain have great potential for expanding economic ties

There is significant potential for developing trade and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Spain, Secretary General of the Pan-European Union Carlos Uriarte Sanchez told Report.

He noted that the parties can deepen cooperation in such areas as agriculture and water supply. Sanchez also noted the possibilities of partnership in the field of renewable energy: "Spain is a leader in this area. You can take advantage of our experience, technology and equipment - solar panels, wind turbines, etc. In turn, we could import electricity, gas and fuel from Azerbaijan."

He emphasized that there are other promising areas in Azerbaijan that are still little known abroad: "You have excellent wines and olive oil - this is also worth talking about."

Carlos Uriarte Sanchez added that, despite some similarities in traditions and culture, the peoples of the two countries still do not know each other well enough.

"And this is something we definitely need to improve," he concluded.
