Bulgaria to start summer tourist season in May

Bulgaria plans to start the summer tourist season on May 1, Report informs, citing Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister Mariana Nikolova.

According to the minister's Facebook post, she intends to approve anti-epidemic measures for the new tourist season on March 15.

"We plan to open it earlier, already from May 1. In the context of the pandemic, it will allow us to comply with the requirements of sanitary authorities. The May holidays are coming, so we need to ensure predictability in the travel industry," the deputy prime minister said.

Bulgarian Health Minister Kostadin Angelov clarified that an option of the "green corridor" agreed with the European Commission will be provided for tourists intending to visit Bulgaria. Thanks to the initiative, those who have antibodies for COVID-19, those vaccinated, and those who have a negative PCR test can visit Bulgaria.
