Afghanistan’s central bank gets $16M from UN

Afghanistan’s Central Bank- De Afghanistan Bank- in a statement said that they received $16 million in cash, part of the humanitarian aids to Afghanistan.

Report informs that the statement that was released on Thursday, December 02 reads that the fund was given by United Nations Assistant Mission in Afghanistan (UNAAM.)

The aid is quite timely as Afghanistan is going through a tough humanitarian and financial situation especially the decrease in value of the local currency.

This is the first time that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is receiving aids from abroad as the countries and international aid agencies have been saying that they will not provide direct aid to the Taliban.

It comes as the World Bank has decided to transfer $280 million in aid to Afghanistan through WFP and UNICEF.
