Six personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were killed and two others injured in Chhattisgarh today after a colleague fired at them, Report informs citing the RIA Novosti.

According to law enforcement authorities of the region, the incident took place at around 9 am at an ITBP camp in the insurgency-hit Narayanpur district, around 350 km from the state capital Raipur. The attacker's motives are unknown. It was noted that most of the victims died on the spot, while two more - on arrival at the hospital. The lives of the victims are not in danger. Doctors assess their state as stable.

Two of the six dead were senior police officers. Following the attack, the perpetrator committed suicide.
