Ministry official speaks about progress of demining liberated areas

“As you know, after the end of the Patriotic War, in addition to the relevant agencies, the mine sweeping unit of the Special Risky Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was also involved in clearing the territories of mines and unexploded ordnance. The territories were seriously mined,” Senior Lieutenant Salman Sariyev, an officer of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), told Report.

“The enemy did not follow any standard norms when mining the territories. However, the cleaning of the areas is carried on strictly. Specially trained dogs are used along with the sappers for clearing the areas. These dogs help us detect unexploded ordnance and landmines in highly contaminated areas. Our employees are equipped with modern equipment, they have passed international courses,” he said.
