Tural Ganjaliyev: Relatives of captive Azerbaijanis are waiting for them for nearly 30 years

"We demand Armenia's response about the fate of nearly 4,000 of our compatriots taken hostage during the First Karabakh War. For 30 years, Armenia had been ignoring our demands regarding this issue. Now our position is tougher and more obstinate. The relatives of captive Azerbaijanis are waiting for them for nearly 30 years," head of the organization 'Return to Karabakh,' MP Tural Ganjaliyev said.

Report informs that, according to Ganjaliyev, after the Second Karabakh War, Azerbaijan set an example of respecting principles of humanism to the world.

"Though little time has passed after the end of the war, the Azerbaijani side found and handed over the bodies and remains of more than 1,600 occupants to Armenia. This process continues up to date. And what did the occupant Armenia do during the First Karabakh War? According to the studies held by the respective structures, during the First Karabakh War, Armenian occupants captured 3,888 people. Some of our compatriots were injured when they were captured. As they did not receive necessary medical assistance, most of them died. There is the information that the survivors worked in the mountains and did hard work, being subjected to the most inhumane tortures. The question is why Armenia did not release our compatriots, who were held hostage for 30 years? Or what information did they present to the Azerbaijani side about the fate of the captives and hostages? Why did Armenian officials and heads of their patron states, international organizations did not remember the principles of humanism at that time?"

Tural Ganjaliyev said that the structure he heads has repeatedly appealed to international organizations for clarifications regarding Azerbaijanis, captured by Armenia.

"However, we received no response to these appeals. Unfortunately, we still do not have any accurate information about the fate of our compatriots in captivity. We need to do so that Armenia provides Azerbaijan with the information about hostages and captives," he said.
