Russian expert: Armenia did not resume its participation in trilateral working group

“Due to the pre-election situation, Armenia unilaterally terminated its participation in the trilateral working group. However, after Nikol Pashinyan fully assumed the post of prime minister, he didn’t even lift a finger to return his representative to this commission,” Russian historian and military expert Oleg Kuznetsov told the Russian bureau of Report.

Kuznetsov noted that there is no post-conflict settlement process either in the institutional or in the practical sphere. The frequent cases of skirmishes at the border may lead to an aggravation of the situation.

Touching upon the proposal of the Armenian side on the deployment of Russian peacekeepers along the entire Armenia-Azerbaijan border, Kuznetsov noted that this is impossible for two reasons: “The place of deployment of Russian peacekeepers on the territory of Azerbaijan is Karabakh, and they cannot be moved anywhere from there, as well as the number of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh is determined by the trilateral agreement of November 10, 2020, and cannot be changed.”
