Lithuania calls for de-escalation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border

Lithuania has expressed deep concern over the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in recent weeks, Report informs, citing the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry's statement.

The foreign ministry of this country called on both sides to de-escalate the situation, stressing that an agreement on the delimitation and demarcation of the border can only be reached peacefully at the negotiating table:

"We continue to monitor the situation closely and believe that the de-escalation steps will contribute to a peaceful settlement of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as strengthening confidence."

The Armenian side committed a provocation, trying to cross the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border in the direction of the Yukhari Ayrim settlement of the Kelbajar region. This morning there was an accumulation of military equipment near the border, including tanks of the armed forces of Armenia.
