Human remains found in Shusha believed to belong to Azerbaijanis held hostage during 1st Karabakh war

The human remains found in the territory of Shusha prison are believed to belong to the Azerbaijanis who were held hostage there during the First Karabakh war, Emil Taghiyev, the head of the Special Investigation Department of the Military Prosecutor's Office, said in a statement to journalists, according to Report.

He reminded that the search for the remains of the people missing during the First Karabakh War began after the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from the occupation: "During the past period, more than 400 human remains were discovered from mass graves in the Dashalti village of Shusha district, Edilli village of Khojavand district, Farrukh village of Khojaly district, Yukhari Seyidahmadli village of Fuzuli district, Kalbajar, Aghdam and other settlements, and more than 200 forensic molecular genetic expertise, along with forensic medical criminalistic expertise, were appointed to identify those human remains with those who disappeared during the First Karabakh War."

The head of the department said that the remains of at least four people were found in the territory of the Shusha prison: "They are believed to belong to the Azerbaijanis held hostage here during the First Karabakh War."
