Expert: Brussels meeting to give new impetus to achieving peace in region

The trilateral meeting between the president of Azerbaijan, the prime minister of Armenia and the head of the EU Council in Brussels will give a new impetus to achieving future aspirations and peace in the region, Executive Director of the Center for Global and Strategic Studies (CGSS, Pakistan) Khalid Taimur Akram told Report.

Latest efforts and role of the EU in organizing meetings between Azerbaijan’s and Armenian heads of state are worth praising, the expert noted.

“I believe that due to the Azerbaijan robust policies and visionary leadership, both parties will reach to the necessary agreements by the end of April. However, Armenia must depict flexibility from its side in order to defuse tensions. In this important time, many new developments are taking place,” he added, concluding that Armenia must play a vigilant role in working with Azerbaijan for regional stability and building relations with other countries and institutions.

On April 6, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the European Council Charles Michel and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Brussels.
