In a bold journey of endurance and discovery, British traveler Luke Daekin is trekking all the way from the United Kingdom to Vietnam — entirely on foot and without a support team, sponsors, or any use of public transport.
Report informs via The Indian Express that Daekin set off on his incredible voyage on September 16, 2024, vowing to rely solely on his own two feet. So far, after 214 days of walking, he’s already conquered two-thirds of Europe, weaving his way through countries like France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, and Türkiye.
Next on his path are Georgia and Azerbaijan, where he'll head eastward toward the Caspian Sea. There, he plans to board a ferry to cross into Kazakhstan — a leg of the trip he anticipates as one of the toughest. “Endless steppes, scarce infrastructure, and limited access to basic needs like water and food will push even seasoned travelers to their limits,” notes the article.
But Daekin’s journey doesn’t stop there. He’ll brave the complex terrains and volatile climates of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India, tackling some of the most challenging border crossings in the world. From there, his route winds through Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, and Cambodia before reaching his final destination: Vietnam.
He plans to complete this odyssey in the vibrant capital of Hanoi, walking the last stretch from Ho Chi Minh City.
